Invisalign Braces

Invisalign is an effective and innovative orthodontic method based on a series of removable transparent aligners. In most cases, this technology can replace standard braces when the patient wants a more discrete way to straighten teeth. Invisalign aligners are special because they are made from clear plastic and are virtually invisible, while conventional metal braces are a much less aesthetically pleasing alternative. Moreover, patients have compared standard metal braces to Invisalign and confirmed that the invisible aligners result in less discomfort and irritation to the soft tissues. Invisalign aligners will have to be worn for 6-18 months to achieve long lasting results. Moreover, the effectiveness of the method partly depends on the patient – the more aligners are worn, the better the results will be. Preferably, Invisalign positioners should be worn from 20 to 22 hours a day. The aligners have to be taken out when eating, brushing and flossing, making it much easier to consume food and maintain regular oral hygiene.

Invisalign can be used to treat most common orthodontic conditions. However, this technology might not be suitable for complex and severe cases. The patient will be required to visit the dentist every two weeks in order to replace the old aligners with new ones to further reinforce the movement of the problematic teeth. Patients report that initially aligners might be slightly uncomfortable, but it takes a very short time to get used to them. Moreover, they are much less irritating than traditional braces. Invisalign aligners are designed using a computerised 3D technology, which allows the braces to precisely match the shape of the patient’s teeth.

The price of the treatment is likely to vary between £3000 and £6000, depending on the difficulty and amount of the required orthodontic procedures.
