Is bone grafting dentist recommended essential?

Q. My dentist has said that I will need to have bone grafting in order to get a dental implant but I don’t like the sound of it. Is this procedure essential?
A. Yes and no, unfortunately it is a question that can only be answered adequately by reviewing a CT scan of your mouth and a clinical examination.

Does dental insurance help with implant treatment?

Q. does dental insurance help with any of the costs of dr glover. what factors would affect this if you please?
A. Hi thanks for your question.

The answer really depends on the insurance policy and any terms and conditions that go with it.

In general dental insurance does not cover dental implants, but may cover the cost of the crown.

Some insurance products will cover dental implants if a tooth is lost through trauma such as an accident.  However sporing injuries are generally not covered unless you’re wearing an appropriately made and constructed mouthguard.

The key is to carefully read any policy wording.

Thanks

Can I get implants even though I have dentures?

Q. Is there anyway I can get dental implants even though I already have denture in?
A. Hi thanks for your question.

It’s certainly a possibility that you may be suitable for implants even if you are already wearing a denture.  It’s quite common for people to want to replace dentures with dental implants

The main factor will be the amount of bone that is available for placing the implants, this will be assessed during consultations and treatment planning and is ususally done by taking an x-ray and possibly a CT-Scan.

The denture can be replaced with fixed bridgework supported on implants or you may wish to explore an implant retained denture which can give loose dentures more stability.

I hope that this helps answer your question.

Dentist cannot post screw into 3i implant but is this fixable?

Q. had 3i implant installed dentist cannot get post to screw into implant seems like implant is cross threaded is this possible and how is it fixable
A. Hi thanks for your question.

Many implant manufacturers have more than one implant system which are made up of multiple components.

3i is not a system that we currently use in practice, but your dentist who placed the implants should be able to find a solution for you.

Thanks

George Glover.

A. I would always recommend 6 implants being a minimum in the upper jaw(to reconstruct all the teeth). But there have been cases wheere I have placed 4 due to a patients budget. Each case is different.

What implant will be used to secure dentures?

Q. Hello Dr Moore, can you tell me if it is normal implant or the mini implants that I will to support my denture. My denture has been in place for three years now but has never felt secure. When I eat or laugh or even talk I can fell it there and it is really annoying. Also, would I need to get a ned denture or can the same one be used?
A. You can often use the same denture, I would personally recommend normal implants as these have the best track record in the long-term
