Can I be put to sleep during implant treatment?

Q. Please tell me that a very powerful type of anaesthesia is used for the dental implant procedure. I really want to get my teeth sorted but am very scared of minor treatment at the dentist never mind something so intrusive as this. Can I be put to sleep. I don’t want to be aware of what is going on one bit!
A. Hi Thank you for your question.

Most clients manage to have dental implant treatment carried out under a local anaesthetic.  However many people are anxious about dental procedures.  In these cases sedation can be offered, while you are not completely put to sleep as this is not possible in general practice anymore for safety reasons, you are unlikely to be aware of the treatment being carried out and in many cases won’t remember it.  There are different sedation methods available.

You should speak to your dentist or the dentist you are considering for the implants and they will be able to guide you through the pros and cons of any sedation methods that the may offer.

Kind Regards.
George Glover.
