Can I Be Put Under Anaesthetic During The Implant Procedure?

Q.
I do not like going to the dentist but if I ask my dentist about implants, can she send me to the hospital to be put under anaesthetics during the implant procedure? I’m really scared of dentists. I had a bad experience 8 years ago but now I only have 7 teeth so I can’t eat properly. I’ve lost a lot of weight and am very unhappy with the way I look. Implants sound perfect but only if they put me to sleep first!

Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you’re so distressed. It’s worth speaking to your dentist about your dental phobia as it is very common and lots of practices are aware of patients in situations such as yourself. They should be able to arrange sedation treatment for you, so that you won’t be as nervous and you won’t gag during the procedure. Thank you for your question, and good luck!
