I have a dislike to needles in my gum and will not have them. About a year ago I chipped a back tooth eating a chiabatta, I went to the dentist who said it needed to be pulled, he referred me to a dentist in another area as they treated patients with anxieties and gave local anaethethic. Two referrals were sent and a year later of waiting the clinic phoned me and said that they could not treat me as I was not in their catchment area,I went back to my dentist who referred me to my local hospital. At first the dental staff did not know where to send me!In the time of waiting for the first clinic to tell me they couldn't treat me my tooth got worse and finally broke completely!I cannot eat on that side as it is an open wound and I keep getting infections in it,on the opposite side I only have one tooth at the bottom at the back, this has a gold crown on it(I have a plate but this does not fit properly and hurts when I have it in and eat,it has been adjusted by my dentist by still hurts).Because I have been eating on this side only it has now affected the one tooth,I now have an infection in it and it is wobbly and the dentist has said it also now needs pulling,so cannot eat on that side either so I am now living on soups. The hospital has put me down as 'routine' which means I am not eligible for an appointment for 18 weeks, I cannot live on soup for 18 weeks or in pain on both sides of my mouth!I have been back to my dentist who said he would write again and gave me more antibiotics and that was it! He was not very sympathetic to the fact that I have a fear of injections. I am an NHS patient and feel that he was not interested because he's not going to get the money out of me for the treatment in hospital. When I was 18 I had a bone graph in my bottom jaw as I didn't have a bite, this did not work so they did the top jaw but took bone out. With the first op I had all my teeth covered in metal and wired, the metal was cemented on,when they took the metal off they used a metal bar thing and plied them off this did not do my teeth any good and I had to have a lot of treatment afterwards, could this be the reason I have so much trouble with my teeth now? Also when I open my mouth the left ball comes right out of its socket and locks alot, when I had the first op they said they were thinking of doing a joint replacement but never did,I grind my teeth in my sleep could this be why?All this is now depressing me and I quite often break down and cry to my husband,it's like noone is listening to what I'm saying.I can't deal with my false teeth thing as it hurts, moves and tastes horrible(yes I can acually taste it),I have no teeth at one side on the top and none on the opposite side at the bottom so cannot chew and the two I do have one is broke and the other is wobbly and they both need pulling out,I'm becoming a depressed wreck,I would like implants but cannot afford them.Would I be eligible for them on the NHS?I feel at the moment that most of this is my dentists fault for not listening to me and sending me to the wrong clinic in the wrong area and making me wait so long for treatment. Please can you help.I do look after my teeth, I clean them twice a day and mouth wash regular especially at work so it is not like I have neglected my teeth. If you cannot help me can you direct me in the right area for complaining about the treatment I have had?
Thank you for your help with this matter and look forward to hearing from you. Regards Barbara R
