Can I Have My Implant Taken Out and Put Back In?

Q.
Hello Dr Glover. I’m just wondering if a loose implant can be placed back in, so the loose implant is really being replaced by the same implant? It started to feel loose just over a month after I had it placed and my dentist said my bone level is fine, but only the tip of the implant is in the bone. I’m not sure if the drilling was done properly but I’m not sure if I can have it replaced with the same implant. What do you think?

Hello, thanks for your question. It’s difficult to give you a definite answer having not had the chance to look at your x-rays or carrying out an examination of your mouth. However it’s very possible that the implant will have to be taken out and replaced with a new one, rather than your current one. Speak to the dentist that placed the implant you have now, and see what they suggest. I hope this has been of some help to you. Kind regards, Dr Glover.
