A. I charge £2100.00 per implant usually you find them much cheaper than £2000.00 in the UK. For hungary you will have to research maybe on the internet.

A. Hi thanks for your question. The cost for dental implants can vary from practice to practice. It can be influenced by the type of implants and components used, the level of training that the dentist has had. As with everything in life there can be varying levels of quality. There are many different options and going abroad is something many people consider. However this should be thought out carefully as regulations and training standards can vary widely from country to country. You should also consider what would happen if you were to have problems with an implant placed overseas as your own regular dentist may not be able to provide assistance. Q. Following and abscess, on a filled lower molar, I was referred to Carisbrooke, in Leciester, for root canal treatment. I attended the consultation last night and when the filling was removed it revealed that the tooth was completely split from front to back and so root canal is not a possibility. The teeth either side are healthy and unfilled and so I would not be happy with a bridge. I also do not wat a false tooth and so other than extraction, the only other option is an implant. Assuming I have sufficient bone in the jaw to tap in the titanium ‘peg’, what would be the approximate price for the implant? I currently have a temporary filling and so want to act quickly. A. Hi Dave the cost of one implant, abutment and crown depends on the quality of components and crown you wish. This can range from £1600 to £2200. A definitive quote would be given after examination I hope this helps

Q. My dentist estimated me about £2,000 for implants but this seems like an expensive amount to me. I am unemployed at the moment and this is far beyond my reach. Are there any cheaper options or is this quite expensive anyway?,
A. This is the average price. Of course we do offer cheaper implants for those patients where price is a big issue……but there is a reason for this. Lesser quality materials or crowns would be used. Remember you get what you pay for.

Q. I had an accident in august 2008 where I fell and smashed my two front teeth onto concrete, which obviously broke. I had caps put on and root canal treatment on the teeth, however a year later they started throbbing. I went back to my local NHS dentist and they said I had an infection in my gums and put me forward for a hospital referal where my gums would be opened and the infection cleaned out (acute mucosal infection). The gentlemen doing my operation said I should think about long term teeth rather than having the caps replaced as they won’t last me til I’m 35, I’m 23 at the moment. Basically he suggested implants, and now I want to know about costs, can a dentist do this and have my paying them back monthly, and after my operation how long do I leave it until I sort out the implants? I just want this sorted and finished now as it’s been going on for a year and a half. I hate the waiting game. If you could give me some advice, tips etc… Thanks
A. Hi thanks for your question.

When teeth are damaged through trauma it’s extremely difficult to say what the long term prognosis will be.  In many cases root canal therapy and porcelain restorations work well so long as the underlying tooth root remains stable as root canal therapy can weaken the tooth.  Crowns and veneers etc don’t last forever unfortunately and may at some point in the future require to be replaced.

It may be that if you are experiencing recurrent infection that the long term prognosis of the teeth is not good and that implants may be a solution for you.  Implants vary in price from dentist to dentist but generally budget in the region of £2000 per implant as a guide.  Many practices do offer payment plans such as interest free or low cost finance patient loans to help you spread the cost of the treatment.

It would probably be wise for you to have a consultation with an Implant Dentist to discuss your treatment concerns.  If you’ve had x-rays taken then it’s often useful to take copies of these for your consultation.

Q. Dear Dr Moore I have had a bridge fitted at the front as my two front teeth were knocked and became very unstable. I am considering implants but I’m not sure if that can happen now I have had a bridge . What is the procedure ? What happens to the two teeth that have been filed down to support the bridge .Plus what are the cost implecations , how long does it last . Apologies for al of the questions
A. The implants are still possible if there is still enough bone, verifiable with xrays or a ct scan. The bridge will normally be replaced and the implants fitted followed by the fitting of a temporary bridge. The 2 teeth adjacent to the gap will be crowned at the end of treatment.
