What would be the cost of an implant and crown at your practice?

Q. What is the typical price of a dental implant at your practice Dr Fahey? Also enquiring about a crown attachment price as well? How long would this treatment usually take at your practice including recovery time and what not?
A. It all depends, and without a consultation of your specific situation and requirements it is hard to be categorical on this. I would say our back teeth start from £2500 and our front teeth start from £2850, these prices are complete with crown and with a 5 yr guarantee (providing you follow a few basic instructions like regularly seeing the hygenist etc…)

Should I have remaining teeth removed and replace with implants?

Q. I now have seven upper teeth remaining and 8 lower, all of which makes me have a very bad smile. I am going to get dental implants but there is something I would like to know. If many of my teeth have already fallen out because of decay is there a good chance that my remaining teeth will follow suit? Should I therefore just get the remaining teeth removed and get all dental implants?
A. Hi thanks for your question.

It’s very difficult to comment without knowing your full dental history and having a consultation.

If you have lost teeth through decay this does not necessarily mean that you will lose others.  Provided you have a healthy diet, and are undergoing regular dental care and treatment where necessary you should be able to keep as many of your natural teeth as possible.

To have your teeth removed and replaced with implants is quite an extreme option.  It is also important to remember that implants need to be cared for and maintained in a similar way to natural teeth.  While they do not decay, they do rely on the gums and bone to be healthy as gum disease can lead to bone loss which would affect stability of the implants.

I would recommend a consultation with a dentist to get a complete overview of your oral health and build a plan for how you want to proceed.

I hope that this helps.

George Glover.

Implants help me lost teeth due to gums receding?

Q. My gums have been receding away for some time now and becuase of my fear of the dentist I have been too scared to go to the dentist and get my problem sorted. Now my gums are in a terrible condition and this is affecting my teeth. I have already had several fall out. What would be your advice to help me? Can implants help improve my smile and confidence? Hoping for a response soon.
A. Yes implants can still be used provided you still have enough bone for the placement of the implants. If the bone has shrunk away you may need bone rebuilding prior to placing your implants. If you would like me to take a look please feel free to contact me at my clinic in Essex

Can I get an implant for tooth lost over 20 years ago?

Q. I lost a tooth over 20 years ago now and did not get it replaced or anything. My other teeth are in very good contiiont but they do seem to have moved into the space slightly. Would you be able to tell me if implant can help me or I have I left it too long?
A. Hi thanks for your question.

It really depends on how much space is left for an implant to be placed and if there is enough bone to support the implant.  When a tooth is lost the remaining teeth will naturally move to try and fill in the space.

A consultation with a dentist would be required and he or she would be able to advise you of the most suitable options for treatment.

I hope that this helps.

What can be done about teeth crumbling away due to gum disease?

Q. Due to a bad case of gum disease and only at 25 my teeth are crumbling away. what can be done for me in this situation in terms of implants and such. it is mainly my top teeth which makes it all the more worse!
A. you need a consultation as gum disease and crumbling teeth are not a good sign. the gum disease would have to be sorted as a first step before you can consider implants

Do you know of any dental implants training courses?

Q. do you know of any courses that i am able to attend to get some experience with implants? i am hoping to broaden my skills and i think this is a great treatment.
A. Hi Thanks for your question.

Good quality training and support are essential before considering providing Implants as a treatment option.

There are a variety of different courses available, some are run by Implant Companies some are run by independent organistations and some that can lead to additional registrable qualifications.  It’s important to note the GDC’s guidelines on what they consider to be appropriate training and choose the course that you feel is most appropriate for you.

It’s also wise to consider what support you get after the course, such as mentoring, assistance with your first few cases.

GIFT run an Implantology Course which is the starting point for the University of Warwick MSc in Implant Dentistry.  www.gift.org.gg There is a network of training centres across the UK.

I hope that this helps?

Is it possible to get implants and dentures on the same day?

Q. Do you know Dr Moore if it is at all possible to have implants and dentures fitted on the same day. It is for my upper mouth that I am asking and I think I would possibly need a partial denture if this does in fact work with implants. I am issing four teeth scattered closely together due to an accident. I look forward to your response.
A. In this situation I would try to fit the implants and provisional teeth at the same time, avoiding dentures altogether if possible. The implants are then completed with the final crowns in 3-4 months. Let me know if you would like to come to my clinic, I would be very happy to help you. Regards  andrew

Why do implants feel loose 5 months after getting treatment?

Q. after getting my implants five months ago they are both feeling loose. what is the deal. i paid good money for this and am not happy. is the dentist responsible for this?
A. they should not be loose, it is probably not a big deal as the screws may be loose, but you need to see your dentist ASAP. we guarantee our work between 3-5yrs, but i can’t comment on what arrangement you have sorted out in your agreement with your dentist

What is your opinion on dental implants abroad?

Q. A friend mentioned to me that prices for implants abroad can be cheeaper. i am not all that sure about going abroad or this quite invasive treatment and was hoping for some advice from a respected professional such as yourself?
A. It can be cheaper especially if treatment goes exactly as planned, however if any complication occurs it may mean further trips and expense. When the prices are quoted it is often for an implant not avaliable in most countries, a bit like buying an ‘own brand’ cheaper version. When you actual copare recognised makes f impants the cost is actually not much differnet. I would personally pay to have my treatment from a  local well respected dentist and have the security of knowing things can be sorted out if problems occur
