What factors will affect the price of a dental implant?

Q. I want to get a dental implant for missing tooth but would like to know what factors will decide price and what the best route is to go down to find a suitable dentist that works for me?
A. Price is usually a combination of time and costs. Basic treatment could start as low as £1000, but more advanced treatment would usually start at about £2500. Our charges start from about £3000, but that includes basic grafting and as many appointments as required to make sure you are happy with your new tooth. Value is not always correlated with a low price, the pain experienced by your finances will be a lot shorter felt than looking in the mirror everyday and seeing a tooth that you are not happy with.

Will cheaper implant be just as good as more expensive one?

Q. Hello, i have lost my front tooth in accident few years ago. My dentist attached artificial tooth to my healthy tooth; however because of it is front tooth i feel very self conscious. When i smile i feel like everyone can see that the tooth is not real. It does not give me any problems other then way it looks. There are significant tissue loos between gum and artificial tooth, so there is some space in between which i hate. I have been considering for a while now to have tooth implant done. I found dentist in London who will do my implant, considerably cheaper. Because i am student i cannot afford very expensive dentist. What my worries is, i am doing implant because i want it to looks as natural as my other front tooth. Because it is front tooth, if it does not look exactly like my other tooth then it will look artificial. Because i am doing this implant only for cosmetic reasons, i need independent opinion from another dentist, what can happen, in worst case. I do not want to spend such an amount of money and then find out that, it actually looks worst. I have one more question. Because implant tooth is not natural, can i use some tooth whitening stuff from internet to whitener my teeth. Again i don’t want that my teeth will turn white and artificial tooth stays darker. How long actually implants last? One more. I was reading that sometimes patients gum is so thin that the implant is visible. Is this happens because dentist did something not right, for example did not consider before that gum was thin, or drilled in wrong place, or you never know what will happen? For example, if first place my implant looks right then it is possible that new years later my gum tissue will get thin and my implant become visible? Thanks for your help. Your sincerely
A. I too would like to fly first class… but only pay for economy.

Can I get implant three years after tooth fell out?

Q. It is now three years since my tooth fell out and I have not got a replacement. Am I still okay to get a dental implant for this missing tooth?
A. Yes, you will probably need some bone grafting and possibly some orthodontics if the teeth have moved.

Do you have any information on the all in 4 implant system?

Q. Hello Dr Fahey can you tell me some more about something i have just read about in minimal that is ‘all in 4′ something to do with needing less implants because of the way they are implanted. do you have any mkore info please and maybe where this is offered?
A. We offer it! It is best done via guided surgery, using info from a CT scan. It involves placing 4 dental implants in optimal positions and a temporary bridge at the same appointment. This is converted to a definitive restoration at a later date.

Do dental schools offer implants at a cheaper rate?

Q. Do dental schools do the dental implant for free or cheaper price for patients or do they not offer it?
A. Umm, I am not sure, but my thinking is that they might if you have had cancer of the mouth or born without teeth or a bad road traffic accident, but not for someone who has just lost a tooth.

Do implants lead to the shrinkage of the jaw bone?

Q. hello dr fahey, do implants lead to further srrinking of the jaw bone and gums or do they help prevent this? it is my two front teeth i need help with as i have worn dentures for a while but they dont really help that well and are loose. thank you and kind regards
A. NO, as long as all underlying disease has been controlled dental implants tend to maintain bone which in turn maintains the gum.
