Is it possible to pay for implants on a monthly basis?
When teeth are damaged through trauma it’s extremely difficult to say what the long term prognosis will be. In many cases root canal therapy and porcelain restorations work well so long as the underlying tooth root remains stable as root canal therapy can weaken the tooth. Crowns and veneers etc don’t last forever unfortunately and may at some point in the future require to be replaced.
It may be that if you are experiencing recurrent infection that the long term prognosis of the teeth is not good and that implants may be a solution for you. Implants vary in price from dentist to dentist but generally budget in the region of £2000 per implant as a guide. Many practices do offer payment plans such as interest free or low cost finance patient loans to help you spread the cost of the treatment.
It would probably be wise for you to have a consultation with an Implant Dentist to discuss your treatment concerns. If you’ve had x-rays taken then it’s often useful to take copies of these for your consultation.
I hope that this helps.

What replacement options are there for an old denture?
It’s very difficult to advise on treatment without having a full consultation.
During a consultation the dentist would discuss what your hopes are for any potential treatment and go through what treatment options may be available to you. They will normally take some x-rays to assess the amount of bone available for placing the implants.
I hope that this helps a little.

Can I get implants under general anaesthetic?
I can understand your anxiety about the implant procedure and you’re not alone there are many people who are anxious about treatment.
To have treatment carried out under general anaesthetic requires a hospital visit as this is no longer done in general practice for patient safety reasons. A general anaesthetic is a big undertaking and has it’s own risks which is why it’s only carried out by trained personnel with the appropriate support.
However there are other options available in general dental practice. Many practices offer different methods of conscious sedation. Where you are essentially put into a relaxed state but remain fully conscious throughout, but most people don’t remember anything that happened during the appointment. These methods work for many people with dental anxieties.
It’s important to be sure that you are happy with the dentist who is going to be carrying out your treatment and are comfortable with him or her, most dentists and their teams will do all they can to make you feel at ease and minimise your anxiety levels.
I do hope that this helps.

How many implants are needed to stabilise a denture?
Thanks for your question.
The number of imlants used to support a denture varies from case to case. But in some cases can be as little as 2.
Cost wise, again this will vary but is often in the region of £5,000.
You would require to have a consultation with a dentist who will be able to advise your suitablilty for implant treatment.

Should I have tooth removed as it is far back in my mouth?
If a tooth is removed then the remaining teeth around it will begin to move over time to fill in the space. This can be in the form of adjacent teeth tipping which can make them difficult to keep clean or teeth that would normally bite together overerupt which can cause problems with the bite and could potentally lead to other problems.
It’s really up to you whether or not you want to leave the space there. As long as you know all the reasons for filling the space and have all the options available to you, such as implant, denture, bridge?
Have a discussion with your dentist and I’m sure they’ll be able to answer all your questions.
I hope that this helps.

Can i have an implant for single tooth to replace denture?
Thanks for your question.
Dental Implants are possibly an option for you. You would need to have a consultation with a dentist who would be able to assess your potential suitablility and discuss the options with you.
Implants can be used to provide additional support for dentures or indeed provide fixed teeth replacement for dentures.
I hope that this helps

What is your advice about getting implants abroad?
Personally I wouldn’t have any medical or dental treatment carried out abroad unless it was an emergency.
It’s important to consider that dental implants are a surgical procedure requiring multiple appointments and complete treatment time can be several months. You also need to consider after care of the treatment. What would happen if something goes wrong? You may find that your own dentist will not be able to help if there is a problem or it can be very expensive to have a problem rectified.
It’s important to be sure of the qualifications and experience of the person who is going to carry out your treatment and that they are using a reputable implant system as well.
I hope that this gives you a little more insight.
Regards.

Should I have remaining teeth removed and replace with implants?
It’s very difficult to comment without knowing your full dental history and having a consultation.
If you have lost teeth through decay this does not necessarily mean that you will lose others. Provided you have a healthy diet, and are undergoing regular dental care and treatment where necessary you should be able to keep as many of your natural teeth as possible.
To have your teeth removed and replaced with implants is quite an extreme option. It is also important to remember that implants need to be cared for and maintained in a similar way to natural teeth. While they do not decay, they do rely on the gums and bone to be healthy as gum disease can lead to bone loss which would affect stability of the implants.
I would recommend a consultation with a dentist to get a complete overview of your oral health and build a plan for how you want to proceed.
I hope that this helps.

George Glover.

Can I get an implant for tooth lost over 20 years ago?
It really depends on how much space is left for an implant to be placed and if there is enough bone to support the implant. When a tooth is lost the remaining teeth will naturally move to try and fill in the space.
A consultation with a dentist would be required and he or she would be able to advise you of the most suitable options for treatment.
I hope that this helps.
