Can I get an implant to replace tooth that had to be removed?

Q. When I was younger I had a root canal that went wrong and my front tooth has to be removed. The dentist did his best to save it but said it was too far gone and that tooth needed to be removed. I am now with a fake tooth that looks and feels horrible and makes me looks stupid. What can I do? Can I get implants?,
A. If the bone is healthy then an implant would be a good solution for you youwill need an assessment and x ray to find out, ask your dentist or if you\\\’re in my area I would be happy to take a look for you

Can I get bridge to replace unstable bridges?

Q. Dear Dr Moore I have had a bridge fitted at the front as my two front teeth were knocked and became very unstable. I am considering implants but I’m not sure if that can happen now I have had a bridge . What is the procedure ? What happens to the two teeth that have been filed down to support the bridge .Plus what are the cost implecations , how long does it last . Apologies for al of the questions
A. The implants are still possible if there is still enough bone, verifiable with xrays or a ct scan. The bridge will normally be replaced and the implants fitted followed by the fitting of a temporary bridge. The 2 teeth adjacent to the gap will be crowned at the end of treatment.

Dentist has recommended me implants or veneers but which one?

Q. I have the choice for veneers or implant according to my dentist. Which of these treatments would you advise for a tooth that is decayed to a very bad colour? A quick reply would be appreciated.
A. A veneer will cover the discoloured tooth but may not look as good as removing the tooth and using an implant supported crown. It depends on the degree of discolouration and the condition of the remaining tooth.

What treatment would be best to replace lost crown?

Q. My crown that I got three years ago has fallen out. It was feeling strange in my mouth abit loose sometimes when i bit down. Now, it is gone at there is once again a horrible gap in my mouth that makes me hate to smile. What of the toth replacement options would you say is best for me? The rest of my teth are in good conditiona and there is no gum disease.
A. You should consider an implant supported crown if it isn’t possible to place another crown on the tooth. if you opt for a bridge it will probably entail drilling down other teeth.

Would it be possible to recreate bridge with one or more implants?

Q. I used to have a four tooth bridge (front right 1-4)to fill spaces for missing lateral incisor and canine, but 3 years ago I lost the supporting molar and hence the bridge because of a recurring root infection in the supporting molar.Would it now be possible to recreate this bridge with one or more implants and would it require bone grafts and a sinus lift? I am 63 years old.
A. Yes, you could recreate this bridge probably using 2-3 implants. It is impossible to tell whether a graft or sinus lift is required without x-rays or a Ct scan. Let me know, I would be happy to take a look for you to give you all your options

Crown has fallen off but what can be done to fix it?

Q. A year ago I went ahead and got a dental crown but now the tooth has fallen off and there is a gap where there was not. What can I do to have this fixwed up?
A. You may need to consider either a new crown, a bridge across the gap or a dental implant to fil the space. It depends on the condition of the remaining root and adjacenet teeth. If you would like to come to my clinic I would be happy to take a look for you to help you decide

Can I be treated under anaesthetic as I am scared of the dentist?

Q. Would I be able to have two teeth extracted that are decayed and have an implant or two inserted under general anaesthetic? I am very scared of the dentist and have had panic attacks in the past when having dental treatment but is there any hope for me?
A. You could have the treatment in a dental practice under sedation but not a general anaesthetic, sedation does effectively the same thing but is much safer. Let me know if you’d like more help I would be happy to see you at my clinic in Essex for a full consultation.

What cost will bone augmentation add to implants?

Q. Hi, I have just decided (after a 3 yr decision process) to have dental implants but I have now been told that I will need bone augmentation. What does this mean to me in terms of cost, recovery time and failure of the implants. Many thanks.
A. Augmentation will increase the cost from £300-1200 in most cases depending on the amount required to rebuild. Recovery time is increased and there is a slight increase in failure of the implant.

Implants help me lost teeth due to gums receding?

Q. My gums have been receding away for some time now and becuase of my fear of the dentist I have been too scared to go to the dentist and get my problem sorted. Now my gums are in a terrible condition and this is affecting my teeth. I have already had several fall out. What would be your advice to help me? Can implants help improve my smile and confidence? Hoping for a response soon.
A. Yes implants can still be used provided you still have enough bone for the placement of the implants. If the bone has shrunk away you may need bone rebuilding prior to placing your implants. If you would like me to take a look please feel free to contact me at my clinic in Essex

Is it possible to get implants and dentures on the same day?

Q. Do you know Dr Moore if it is at all possible to have implants and dentures fitted on the same day. It is for my upper mouth that I am asking and I think I would possibly need a partial denture if this does in fact work with implants. I am issing four teeth scattered closely together due to an accident. I look forward to your response.
A. In this situation I would try to fit the implants and provisional teeth at the same time, avoiding dentures altogether if possible. The implants are then completed with the final crowns in 3-4 months. Let me know if you would like to come to my clinic, I would be very happy to help you. Regards  andrew
