What treatment would be best to replace lost crown?

Q. My crown that I got three years ago has fallen out. It was feeling strange in my mouth abit loose sometimes when i bit down. Now, it is gone at there is once again a horrible gap in my mouth that makes me hate to smile. What of the toth replacement options would you say is best for me? The rest of my teth are in good conditiona and there is no gum disease.
A. You should consider an implant supported crown if it isn’t possible to place another crown on the tooth. if you opt for a bridge it will probably entail drilling down other teeth.

Can current crown be used with dental implants?

Q. I already have a dental crown and have only had it for a few years now. I have now decided to opt for a dental implant and would like to know if the dental crown I am currently using would be able to be connected to the implant or whether i would need to get another one?
A. Unfortunately you would  require a new one.

Is it okay to yse non-precious metal for implant crowns?

Q. Dear Dr Moore, I am a Dental Technician in Trinidad and I have a Dentist that insist on using non- precious metal as a base for Implant crowns. I have offered gold and zirconia but he insist on the non precious. Is non precious metal compatible with the Titanium? and if not what is the scientific reason. Thank you
A. I’m sure well made non precious metal crowns work OK. I guess it is for purely financial reasons he ould use them. I prefer precious metal as the longer castings often needed for implant bridgework tend to fit better.

Q. What fake tooth attachments am I able to get witha dental implant? I know they can secure dentures but I don’t have that many teeth missing?
A. It is possible to fix a denture, crown or bridge to the implant depending on the number of teeth missing.

Is it possible to change the implant tooth?

Q. Hello, I had an implant on my 6th, six months ago and the prosthetic tooth was fixed on it about three weeks ago. implant went very well.two questions 1-Is it possible to change the tooth on the implant after it’s been fixed? mine seems too short. my dentist had to shave teeth on the same side of it too much that now I can feel a gap between them when I close my mouth and pressure on my 3rds and 4ths teeth which is driving me crazy. 2-Will I be able to chew with the prosthetic tooth on the implant without any pain? because I can’t chew crunchy or alittle harder food, like apples!Nuts? don’t even think about it!
A. You should be able to use the tooth as a normal one but you might be best to avoid nuts, just in case!. The gap between the teeth could be closed by just replacing the crown on top of the implant rather than the whole thing. Ask your dentist to take another look and see what he can do. Regards  Andrew

How long before crown can be attached to dental implant?

Q. How long after a dental implant is implanted before a crown can be attached? ASlso, how does it work with the crown being attached?
A. I usually leave the implant for 3 months before I attach a crown to it.

An abutment is constructed which is screwed into the implant. This acts like a post for the crown to be cemented or screwed into.

How long does treatment time take for dental implants with crown?

Q. I am going to be getting a dental implant with a crown next week, but not sure exactly how long this whole process will take. Anyhow, I would like to know whether the crown is likely to get discoloured over time, or whether it will remain at the same colour. Are things like smoking and red win adn things like that more likely to stain them?

A.

The process can take anything from about 6 weeks to 6 months depending on what is being done.

The crown will not intrinsically get discoloured over time, but smoking and red win and things like that more likely to stain the surface.
