What is your view on mini implants?

Q. Hello i have a full set of bottom dentures,which i hate, i am forever using cream just to keep then in!! i would like to have Fixed/Detachable Restorations, is this possible to have for bottom jaw? what is Procedure and how long would it take and the cost. Also i dont think i would like the full implants, not sure if i have enough bone for that. what is your view on the mini implants. Mini implants are not as reliable as normal implants which I would personally recommend. you could have a scan 1st to see if you have enough bone. we charge around £3000 for 2 implants and a full denture held in with special clips that anchor the palte during eating and talking. Any info on getting implants in india or mini implants?

Q. I can’t tell if www.dentalimplants-india.com is mini-implants or what is recommended. The webiste says Nobel Bio-care, but the dentist says that mini-implants are only used in certain cases. I’m in Singapore and thinking about getting implants in India, but I could get mini-implants
A. I guess you could but Nobel-Biocare only make regular implants.

Can I have mini implants for dentures?

Q. Do you do Mini Dental implants for retaining dentures
A. Hi thanks for your enquiry.

We do offer a solution for Implant Retained Dentures, although it is not based on the mini-implant systems.  We use one of our main implant systems that offer us a wide variety of implants that we can use.

Why has dentist said I need a mini implant and not a normal one?

Q. My dentist has told me that I will need to get a mini implant but I am unsure why I can not get a normal implant. What reason would have made him choose a mini implant?
A. personally i do not use mini implants for permanent teeth. I only use them as temporary measures.

Are min implants susceptible to breakage?

Q. I was a dental assistant for 11 years. what is the protocol if a mini implant breaks off during the placement? And is this a normal possibility for a mini implant?
A. mini implants are very thin and can break. It isn’t normally difficult to remove them and to place another implant

Are mini implants used when bone grafting is needed?

Q. Dear Dr. Moore: My father has lost most of his teeth on the upper jaw, the six teeth remain on the upper jaw can not be saved either, because they are very loose. I went to a clinic with him, the propose two plans for treatment. I would like to know doew mini implant require bone graft? How well can an over denture be secure on upper jaw? And does asian needs more time to heal after bone graft then western people? Thank you!
A. Mini implants are generaal used when a bone graft is not needed an overdenture works well if the implants provide enough support I’m not aware that Asian people take longer to heal. Healing depends onthe surgery performed and the response of the patient

Do mini implants do same job as normal implants?

Q. Do mini dental implants do the same job as normal implants or they for a specific area of dentistry?
A. No, mini implants are only for a few very defined uses in dentistry IMO

What are mini implants used for?

Q. Are mini dental implants primarily for holding dentures in place or something along those lines? From what I have read that seems to be the idea but I am not too sure?
A. I would only use mini implants for a temporary solution or when funds are tight to anchor a lower denture

How are mini implants different from normal implants?

Q. Could you please tell me what the difference is between the normal dental implants and the mini implants? Do they serve different purposes or are they just different choices for patients who require a dental implant?
A. mini implants are just small implants, best used in a couple of limited situations where as normal dental implants are much more versatile
