Dentist said they wouldn’t do implant because I smoke. Is giving up smoking the only option?

Q. My front tooth is beyond disrepair or so my dentist has told me. It is very loose though and I think it is only a matter of time. I asked the dentist about the possibility of implants but he said no because I smoke. I asked whether another dentist would do it if I went to them but he was adamant that they wouldn\’t. Is the only reasonable option for me to do my best to give up smoking if I want to have this treatment?,
A. I place dental implants in smokers but i make them aware of the risk of faliure and future prognosis. I always try to recommend to stop smoking as this would give a better success rate.
