How long after my front tooth is removed should I wait before getting an implant?

Q. i am a 56 year old female andI have just had my front tooth – crown, post and remaining tooth removed. When will I be able to start work for an implant? The temp plate is badly fitting and uncomfortable and the sooner I am able to start the better. Could you also give me some idea of the costs involved. My other front tooth is also a crown, but to avoid costs I would be happy to have a replacemnt for this.,
A. Hi thanks for your question. It’s difficult to say what timescales you should consider without knowing the full dental treatment history. Sometimes when a tooth is removed an implant can be immediately placed, other times if there is any signs of infection in the are then a healing period is required before placing the dental implant. Costs for dental implants and crowns will vary from practice to practice; but as a guide for a fully restored dental implant you should budget £2,000. The cost of a crown can vary from a few hundred pounds to £1,500 or more. I hope that this helps. Regards George Glover BDS MSc
