How long before gum disease is under control so I can get implants?
Q. My dentist has said I will not be able to have dental implants until my gum disease is completely under control. Is this true. How long does gum disease need to be in chek before I can be allowed implants then? best wishes
A. Hi Paul
It is is very important that the gum disease is treated and that the gums are healthy before any implants are placed. Also once the implants are placed, it is important the patient sees the hygienist every 3 to 6 months , to make sure that the gum disease does not occur again.
