I’m Worried My Teeth Will Keep Falling Out Due to Gum Disease and Implants are Expensive. What Can Be Done?

Q.
Hi Dr Fahey. I’ve been receiving treatment for gum disease over the last few months. I had a filling about 4 weeks ago, and following it I’ve had a severe toothache, and the tooth is so loose I think it’s going to fall out. I really don’t want a plate fitted, and I’m terrified that my other teeth will start to fall out too. It’s frustrating because I thought I was getting rid of the gum disease! Now, if my teeth do start falling out, and I pay for just the one tooth now, I might have to keep getting implants and obviously this is going to cost me more and more with each tooth. My dentist isn’t saying much on the matter which winds me up even more. Can you help me?

Hello, thank you for your question. I think you should speak to an experienced implant dentist in your area in a consultation. Hopefully he will be able to put to bed some of your worries and be able to have a look at your teeth to see what really needs to be done and what doesn’t. Good luck!
