Is dental implant procedure not as bad as it sounds?

Q. Would you be able to give me a reasonable description of what the dental implant procedure involves? Is a drill used to go into the jawbone? It is this kind of things that leaves me on edge if you could help to ease my worries about the whole thing a bit?
A. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic and involves a small incision in the gum. The bone is then exposed and a small hole drilled. the implant is then carefully placed into this hole. It is a very straightforward procedure and sounds much worse than it is!!
