Is there a possibility of nerve damage if I get implants and a bridge after wearing dentures for twenty years?

Q.
Yello, I am concerned about getting nerve damage in the lower jaw. I hope to have four front teeth replaced by dental implants and a dental bridge but have worn a denture for over twenty years now and the underlying gum and bone has shrunk considerably – what are the chances of damage being done in this instance? I also have bruxism and am worried about the general outcome of such dental treatment. I have had considerable problems with gum disease in the past (the reason for the tooth loss) but have excellent oral hygene levels now and for the last few years. I have no worries on that score, but would appreciate what you have to say on the other matter.

Good question that! Unfortunately with out seeing your OPG/ CBCT scan it is very difficult to ascertain if you have any risk re nerve damage. Sorry, if this is not much help, but this is something your surgeon should be able to reassure/ advise you about.
