Is there an artificial choice for bone grafting?

Q. After reading about the bone grafting I am not all that sure about getting bone from my leg. Is it possible to get something artificial or is this not as good as your own natural bone?
A. most people will avoid bone harvesting from extra oral sites if given an opportunity. where possible, and if you have hair the skull is my preferred extra oral site (calvaria harvest). hip grafts result in the possibility of a lot of bone, however they have significant morbidity with a significant amount of discomfort and difficulty walking for 2-3 weeks afterwards.

your own bone is needed for some procedures like onlay grafting but not so important for sinus grafting etc… so we would need more information before advising you about this.
