Is There Any Help I Can Get From The NHS Toward The Cost Of Implant Treatment? My Dentures Make Me Self Conscious.

Q.
Hello Dr Moore. I have had a full top denture since the age of 17, I am now 53 and my dentist has tried her best to make me a new denture that will fit comfortably without movement. Unfortunately she said this is the last try and it still hasn’t worked. I get very depressed because of this and it makes me feel very conscious when eating out. If I sneeze or cough they just fly out causing much embarrassment unless I stick them in with horrible fixative. My dentist has told me I need dental implants but they are very expensive, I am disabled and I can’t afford the treatment. Is there any help I can get from the NHS towards the cost of the treatment I am desperate?

I don’t think so but you could write a letter to your local health authority (PCT). The only other option is to try and get your dentist to refer you to a local dental hospital for reduced rates. This can be a lengthy process however as the waiting lists can be long. I wish you the best of luck with this. Thank you, Dr Andrew Moore.
