My teeth look longer. Is this due to gum recession. Could I get implants?

Q. I am considering having the remainder of my teeth removed and full dental implants fitted. I would like to know how many implants are necessary to support full ceramic bridges for both upper and lower jaw with 12 teeth on each. I am asking as I have conflicting advice about this. Another concern that I have is that my own teeth appear very long presumably due to receding gums and I would like to know if this can be improved with the new crowns. I do not want to end up with teeth that look as long as they do now. I look forward to your reply. Thank you for your time.,
A. The length of the teeth is determined by how much gum recession you’ve had and where the final teeth should end in relation to your lip and smile line. If the gum and bone has shrunk away a lot now the only way of reducing the tooth length is to rebuild the bone, often using bone taken from the hip. Alternatively pink porcelain or acrylic can be used to mask the length of the teeth, have a look at the all on 4 page on my website for examples http://www.advancedentalclinic.com/all-on-4.php
