What pain medication is given after implant treatment?

Q. Hello, I am going to be getting a couple of dental implants next week. Not particularly looking forward to it. What kind of pain medication will I be given when the treatment is done to help alleviate the pain?
A. Hi, for simple procedures such as 1-2 implants normal painkillers such as paracetamol or nurophen should suffice, just take what might normally take for a headache

Which anaesthetic is used during dental implant treatment?

Q. In your opinion, what is the better option of anaesthetic to be used in the dental implant procedure? I am a healthy adult, or so I like to think, but have little experience with major dental procedures and what is involved?
A. Hi, many thanks for your email. Most of my patient have an implant procedure done under local anesthetic, if you are very anxious about the procedure then the other option is to have intravenous sedation however this does require you to be accompanied by an adult. also this does usually raise the cost of the procedure. hope this information is helpful.

How much would it cost on average for three dental implants?

Q. Could you please give me an estimate of how much it would cost to get three dental implants? Also, what attachment options are there with dental implants (eg. bridges) and how much extra cost do these add?
A. You should budget around £2000 per tooth to include the implant, post and final tooth on top although we do reduce this amount if the implants are all placed at the same time let me know if you’d like me to take a quick look regards, Andrew. 01245 268 494

Which of a dental implant and bridge is the better option?

Q. I had to have a tooth removed because of decay, but am now at a loss whether to go for an implant of a bridge? My other teeth are in good condition so there is no problem there. I want something that is going to last quite some time, if one is more inclined to this?
A. Hi, many thanks for your email. If the teeth surrounding the extraction site are in good condition my advice is to have a dental implant as this is the most conservative option and also the longest lasting option. Hope this is helpful.

What after-care do dental implants require?

Q. How many differnt types of dental inplantare there? Is it possible to eat anything once implants are implanted and what sort of care does it require except for the regular brushing of course? Thank you in advance for your answers.
A. There are many differnet makes but root form implants are really the only type you would opt for. Look for a recognised brand such as Ankylos, astra, Struamann or Nobel Biocare.
You should be able to treat and care for them like normal teeth with regular brushing flossing and visits to your Hygienist.

Would I be able to replace my crown with a dental implant?

Q. Dear Dr Solanki, I am 44 years old. I don’t know if you can help me. I have never had any self confidence because I have a crown on my front tooth, which is so unsightly, but I have tolerated because it was the only one that never fell out!! I don’t really live life to the full because my self esteem is so low, although I try my best to hide it. My dentist says he is relunctant to replace my crown in spite of my pleas because he thinks I will need an apicectomy. Dr Solanki, I am terrified of losing my front tooth/teeth. I am aware that there is a slight sensitivity above my front tooth in my gum near my septum. Do you think I would be suitable for an implant? If so, could you tell me the cost? Finally, Dr Solanki, could I have a consultation with you on Friday 13th November to discuss my situation. I appreciate that might not be suitable, so no pressure. Thank you for any advise or help you can offer me. Best regards, Mary.
A. Hi mary, thanks for your email. The first thing i would say is to come and see me so I can assess the tooth inquestion and see if I feel we can save the tooth. This would be my recommendation. If this is not possible then we can explore the option of a dental implant to replace the tooth.

The cost of a single tooth dental implant including the crown is around £2100.

I am more than happy to see you for a consultation. I work at my new city centre practice on fridays. Please contact Helen, my practice manager, on h@kissdental.co.uk and arrange this. I will make sure the consultation is free of charge.

Many thanks

What sympoms point to dental implant failure?

Q. I had my implant put in a week ago. Everything seems to be going okay, but I was hoping you would be able to advise me on what symptoms to look out for to ascertain whether a dental implant is a failure or success?
A. If you still have pain after 2-3 weeks then it might be a problem, but it’s too early to tell at this stage.

What are the advantages of dental implants?

Q. My tooth has fallen out and I have had a temporary tooth in place for aesthetic reasons. Now, I am on the market to get this problem solved properly. Implants seem like a good option, but I would like to know what advantages such a technique has over more traditional treatments like bridges and dentures?
A. Hi,

Implants have the advantage of being fixed teeth, without having to cut down adjacent teeth.

Of course, the problem with dentures is that they are removable and some patients do not tolerate them.
