What tooth replacement is attached to the implant for the actual tooth?

Q. I understand the thing with the implant but what tooth replacement is attached to the implant for the actual tooth?,
A. The Implant crown is attached to the implant with what is called an abutment. The abutment screws into a chamber inside your implant, the crown then fits over the abutment. Hope this makes sense.

When you have a dental implant do they replace the root too?

Q. When you have a dental implant do they replace the root too? or is just a case of an implant being drilled into the gum and then the tooth being placed on top? Thanks.,
A. A dental implant replaces your tooth and root, it is drilled into your bone above gum level. The implant is inserted into the bone and then a crown fitted on top.

How much would it cost for dental implants?

Q. My dentist told me that I am going to need implants. This came out of the blue for me and I was not expecting it at all. Why had he not noticed that there was a problem in the first place on our previous check-ups is what I would like to know. Anyhow, can you tell me the cost for one implants and any charges I am likely to incur?,
A. Hi thanks for your question. It\’s hard to really say why this hasn\’t been discussed with you before without knowing your full dental history. You would need to discuss that with the dentist. Fees for dental implants will vary from practice to practice and can differ depending on the quality or materials used, the amount of training that the dentist has had. Typically for a single implant and crown you would be advised to budget between £1800 and £2000. Many practices will offer finance options to spread the cost and offer free initial consultations too. Hope that this helps. Regards George Glover

Okay for dental implants if I grind teeth?

Q. For many years I have been grinding my teeth. It took me some time to get a mouth guard and by then some of my teeth were beyond repair. I had to have 3 removed and there have been gaps in my teeth for three yeas now. I still grind my teeth and this is something I have not been able to stop. If I am to get dental implants would they be okay seen as I do grind my teeth? I will of course wear mouthguard at night.
A. It is very important that the grinding habit does not cause destructive damage to the crowns aswell as the implants. Therfore a good constructed nightguard would be required.
