How Can I Maximise My Implant Success Rate?

April 18th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Bohara I am considering getting a dental implant soon and am doing a little investigation into treatment success rates first. I’m looking for some expert advice on what can go wrong if the implant fails to take and what can I do to maximise my chances of it succeeding? I’ve read a little about infection when they are not fitted properly but would like a concise, professional summary. Hoping you can provide one. Thank you very much.

February 1st, 2012
Q.
I HAVE JUST HAD A TOOTH REMOVED AFTER 5 MONTHS OF ABSESSES AND CANCELLED NHS DENTAL APPOINTMENTS. DURING THE 3 TREATMENTS FOR ROOT CANALS THE DENTIST CHIPPED MY FRONT TOOTH WITH THE DRILL (WHICH I HAVE HAD TO HAVE FILLED) AFTER HAVING THE ABCESSED TOOTH REMOVED i HAVE NOW NOTICED THE ONE NEXT TO IT IS CRACKED WHICH I DONT THINK IT WAS BEFORE AND I AM STARTING TO GET HEADACHES AGAIN. A FRIEND OF MINE SAID SHE HAD DENTAL IMPLANTS FREE AT A SHEFFIELD HOSPITAL A FEW YEARS AGO AS SHE IS SCARED OF THE DENTIST. i TOO AM SCARED OF RETURNING TO MY DENTIST AS THE MORE I GO THE MORE I NEED DOING. I DIDNT USED TO BE SCARED OF THE DENTIST MY PREVIOUS DENTIST HAD BEEN THERE FOR 15 YEARS BEFORE IT GOT TOOK OVER. I WAS CONSIDERING AN IMPLANT BUT NOW AFTER ANOTHER CRACKED TOOTH I THINK I WILL NEED TWO.ARE ANY OF THE FIRMS ADVERTISING CHEAP UK IMPLANTS ANY GOOD? I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ADVICE YOU COULD GIVE ME. MANY THANKS,

I’m looking to get a single tooth implant, any advice?

July 1st, 2011
Q.
Hi i am looking for a single implant for a front tooth which was knocked out just over a year ago now. Where abouts is the best place to find an experienced dentist to perorm this procedure or can you recommend anybody in particular in the north east of England? How common is it for patients to experience pain in their gums once the implant has been completed?,

Would you agree that the dental implants may not be appropriate?

March 11th, 2011
Q.
I had my two front teeth root filled and crowned 25 years ago after a childhood bicycle accident. After 18months of cortico steroid treatment for an autoimmune muscle condition one of these root fillings is now infected. I am in discussion with my dentist regarding the best course of treatment. He has recently begun implant procedures and teaches at the Birmingham Dental Hospital. He is concerned that implants would not be appropriate as it would be too difficult to line them up as I show a lot of the gum line when I smile and is leaning towards re-doing the root fillings. Would you agree that implants may not be appropriate?,
