What kind of sedation is issued when you go in for a dental implant?

What kind of sedation is issued when you go in for a dental implant? I would personally prefer to be put to sleep but my dentist doesn\’t advise it. I have bad dental phobia and was just wondering if sedation would work on me?Is it guaranteed to make me feel at ease?,
