What criteria are there to be allowed dental implants?

Q. I am thinking about getting an implant as the bridge I had put in place quite a few years ago is begininning to fail. My dentist told me this would happen eventually. Are there any specifications for people who can get implants, as there are with other dental treatments?
A. Hi, many thanks for your email. The specification is that you’re fit and well, non smoker is preferential and not immunocomprised ie uncontrolled diabetic. Also, the amount of bone in the area to place the dental implants is important. If all the boxes are ticked there should be no problem for you to have dental implants. Hope this is helpful.
