Will I need to keep a soft diet when I get dental implant?

Q. During the recover time or healing time when the implant is given time to settle in is it necessary to keep a soft diet to keep the area from getting irritate? Are we talking about soup and bread and generally soft food?
A. Hi Thanks for your question.

During the healing period immediately post surgery patients are usually advised to try and keep the area free from irritation for a couple of weeks.

While the gum has healed the implant will still be integrating under the gum and you can generally eat as normal.  There is usually no need to stick to soup and bread during the whole process.

Once your treatment is complete you’ll be pleased to know that you can eat normally.

Hope that this helps.

Kind Regards
