My 14 year old daughter has a front impacted tooth and wants to have a dental implant, is this possible?

August 12th, 2013
Q.

My daughter has front impacted tooth – she has decided she does not want to wait another 2 years for tooth to possibly come down and have an implant instead – can you advise if this is possible and the procedure. So far she just has the chain fitted. Her impacted tooth is way up under her nose lying horizontally and we have been told that the procedure to pull down may not be a success. She has had teeth removed as some other front teeth out of place. She is 14 and the absence of a front tooth is having major impact. NHS have been good but process too slow and she is prepared to do anything to have a front tooth asap.
Thanks

My dentist and Guys Hospital dispute what treatment i should have done, which one should i go with?

August 1st, 2013
Q.

Ive had 3 implants put in about 6 yrs ago but Ive been told they wont last by my dentist and Guys Hospital. My dentist suggest to have the implants redone but Guys tell me to have a bridge. Im confused and really dont know what to do. I just want to be referred to the right person so I don’t have to walk around with big gaps in my mouth. Its an awful feeling not being able to smile. I’m a diabetic who is 50 years old. My diabetes can be a bit unstable at times but at the moment the balance has improved.

Both my dentist and Guys disagree with each other regarding my treatment and both parties rerfuse to talk to each other too.

I so need to find a permanant help for my teeth as the thought of having more false teeth kills me.

The implant on the upper left hand side is starting to ache which I fear might be starting to fall out but on touching it , it still appears firm. Both other impants also appear firm but x rays have proved they will one day fall out but no one knows when.

my nhs dentist and private dentist worked together with my treatment of crowns and implants. also i had to have bone put in the gums so the implants worked.

I have had Gum disease since I was 21 but keep my teeth in good order. I have them clean by my dentist every 3 months. Ive also been to guys for a year while they cleaned

Is it a good idea to have the all on 4 treatment if i have an aggressive periodontal disease

August 1st, 2013
Q.

Dear Dr Fahey, I hope you can advise me. I researched for many months, I found a clinic for the all on four implant for my upper teeth to be removed and to have the all on four implants. I’m 48, I have aggressive Periodontal disease which the clinic is aware of. My teeth are very very long and gums have receded to such a point that they are loose with large gaps and some of the molars have already been removed.

My appointment to have the all on four procedure is booked. I was told there is a high chance of failure because of my condition and that the surgeon will only know once he has removed my teeth and placed the implants, which he may also decide not to proceed with on the day if he feels that the bone isn’t stable enough.I haven’t had the chance to discuss the procedure with the surgeon as yet until the day of the surgery.

I went to my dentist to ask her advice, she suggested that I take antibiotics and that she deep cleans the pockets and then over several weeks in stages injects antibacterial gel into the pockets to prepare the mouth and ensure that it is ready for surgery.

The information booklet given also states the the bridge only lasts for ‘up to five years’ and can crack. I just wondered what your take on the procedure was for someone who has Periodontists and whether this is the correct procedure for me?

Thank you.

I need help paying for dental implants, i have many problems with my teeth, what can i do?

July 17th, 2013
Q.

I need help paying for dental implant procedures on my upper and lower. I have tried to even volunteer at schools and on Craigs list but no help. This is not about a lifestyle.I need teeth in my mouth and dentures and metal on the roof of my mouth is something I cannot handle. I spent so much money, insurance and time paying a dentist who promised me a perfect smile and took my teeth, I have 8 at the top which 2 I crazy glue on to talk clearly and chew what I can. I need help please, I even wrote to the Dental Association. I was told this was my only option and I needed to get the procedure done soon because my bone amount was good. I have no teeth in the back. I need a blessing and I am asking for your help please. I am 42 and healthy, I do not want this, I need help for this procedure.

I’m considering having an implant on my right front tooth, I’ve had 2 consultation which do you think is the best option?

July 17th, 2013
Q.

I am considering having an implant on my right front tooth due to the post / core RCT root starting to fail (after 25 years). I have had two consultations with two specialists and one is saying he would be prepared to do an immediate implant placement following extraction with the final restoration 3 months later, but the other is saying he does not want to do this and will extract, wait 3 months and then place the implant. Which do you think is the best option, as i have read that immediate loading / placement can cause problems such as gum recession after placement and can be challenging to create a good result in the aesthetic zone? Perhaps worth noting is that i had crown lengthening surgery about 3 years ago prior to the replacement of my front crowns. Also, as both my front teeth are crowned can i have a fixed temporary restoration during the healing phases of the implant placement? I know i should have asked them these questions but i ran out of time at the consultation and just want an unbiased view. Many thanks in advance.

Would my dad be able to get dental implants put in if his dentists knocked two other teeth out while extracting another tooth?

July 17th, 2013
Q.

Hi my dad went to the dentist to get one tooth taken out, in doing this the dentist actually broke his crown straight off and the bridge next to it. they said they would fix this and they have given him a pallot. Would he be able to get dental implants put in for free on the two teeth that were knocked out seen as though it isnt his fault. Surely he should have to pay to have these teeth fixed as it wasnt his fault they were taken out? i was wondering is there anything we can do or will he have to pay for treatment ?
