My 13 Year Old Son Has Had a Tooth Knocked Out. What Shall We Do?

July 2nd, 2015
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. My son is 13 and lost one of his front teeth whilst playing football with his friends. I’ve been looking at our options online and am not sure which treatment would be best. It’s only been 6 days since it happened and he’s very upset. As an image-conscious teen he’s worried about what people will think about him and it’s upsetting for me to see him so unhappy. What do you think the best treatment option would be? Thank you so much.

I’ve Cracked My Dental Crown, What Should I Do?

June 21st, 2015
Q.

Hello Dr Moore.
I had a crown placed over a dental implant about 3 years ago, but now it’s cracked! It’s definitely going to fall out, it doesn’t feel secure at all now, and parts of it have started to come off. Obviously I can’t go on like this because I don’t want to cut my tongue or anything and it’s difficult to eat now. I’ve got an appointment with my dentist next Monday, but what should I do between then and now? And what will he say? Thank you.

How Much Does All On 4 Treatment Cost, and Am I Suitable?

June 12th, 2015
Q.

Hey Dr Moore. I need 10 teeth removing, and I would like to have All On 4 treatment on both my upper and lower jaws. Currently I have a denture of 6 teeth along the lower jaw, but there are 4 next to it that are in very bad condition. On the upper jaw there are 6 teeth in bad condition, with no denture there at all. Ideally I’d like an idea on how much the treatment costs, but should probably mention that I suffer from gum disease and it’s quite bad. Am I suitable for All On 4?

I Suffer From Dental Phobia. Can I Have My Teeth Replaced Without Drilling?

June 5th, 2015
Q.

Hi Dr Moore, I hope you can help me. I have a huge phobia of going to the dentist, and because of this I haven’t been to see one for about 7 years. My teeth have started to feel loose and I really don’t know what to do. My phobia means I just couldn’t go through with the implant procedure, it’s too much for me. Is there any way I could have teeth removed and replaced without the use of drilling? Not only am I scared of going to the dentist but I’m also ashamed of my teeth. Please give me all the advice you can.

How Soon After Implant Surgery Can I Eat Solid Foods?

May 21st, 2015
Q.

Hello there, my question relates to aftercare following implant surgery. I’m due to have my implant fitted 3 weeks from now, and I’d just like to know how long will it be until I can eat solid foods after treatment. I’m the Managing Director of a marketing company and have a lot of lunch meetings scheduled after my surgery so I need to be able to eat properly as soon as possible. Thanks in advance for your response.

My Dental Implant Was Itching and Now it Won’t Stop Bleeding. Any Advice?

April 24th, 2015
Q.

Hi, I did something really stupid. I had my implants fitted only 3 weeks ago and was extremely itchy around one of the areas. I scratched it and now it won’t stop bleeding. I thought it would stop but it hasn’t! I’ve tried everything and I’m scared that it means my implant is failing. I’m seeing my implant dentist tomorrow but just wondered if you could advise me for now? I need to feel better…I spent SO much money on these implants. Thanks for your time.

Will The NHS Pay For My Braces?

March 29th, 2015
Q.

Hi, I’m 14, 15 next month and I’m wanting braces. My teeth are not bad, I only have gaps between my top set of teeth (only on the first 4). I’m wanting braces but I’m not sure if the NHS will pay for them or not as it may be classed as cosmetic. If I was to pay for them I was wanting to know how much it would roughly cost, as my teeth are not too bad. Thank you!

How Can I Get A Lovely Smile Without Having False Teeth?

March 21st, 2015
Q.

Hi there, I am a 51 year old lady who suffered Crohns disease and was on long term steroids. I have been off them for 6 years now. My teeth and gums suffered and I have slight gum disease.
I have 1 crown in the front which is not in straight, and the tooth next to it is bridged onto a smaller tooth and is a different colour. I also have gaps. I would like a lovely smile again without having false teeth, any suggestions?

Is There Any Technology That Allows For Implants To Be Placed In Under One Month?

March 14th, 2015
Q.

Hello Dr Moore. I am a healthy 19 year old individual, and I need 2 tooth implants. The teeth I require are the first and fourth incisors, and I need a long term solution. I understand the procedure of dental implants using titanium screws and have been advised that this is best option for me. I am asking you whether there is any new technology that would allow dental implants to be put in in under a month, using the titanium screws? Also, what would the possible advantages and disadvantages of this technology be, compared to the procedure that takes approximately 6 months? Thank you.

Is It Common For Healing Screws To Come Loose?

March 8th, 2015
Q.

H Dr. Moore, I have a question for you. My partner has just had healing screws fitted as he is having four implants placed. He is waiting to have final treatment in two weeks time when the gums heal. He was biting into a sandwich and felt that one of the healing screws had come loose. Is this common, and can it be replaced? Does it mean that the gum has rejected it? Will this delay the final treatment? He had the implants put in 9 months ago. Thanks in advance.
