I’ve had my tooth removed because of an abscess, will the abscess heal up on it’s own now or do i need antibiotics?

August 19th, 2013
Q.

Dear Dr Moore,
I had a filling fall out quite some time ago, stupidly I left it like this and my tooth eroded away leaving only a small amount visible. Yesterday I noticed a slight swelling on the gum above the tooth I phoned my dentist and they seen me today and removed the tooth. What I don’t understand is if this is the end of the problem? Will the abscess just go away by itself now the rotten tooth has been removed. I am pregnant and do not want any infection to harm my baby. Should I have been given antibiotics or will I be ok just gargling salt water and keeping the area clean as my dentist instructed me to do.
Thank you for your help!

What is the lump that has appeared on my gums?

July 7th, 2013
Q.

I went to my dentist in agony because I was with toothache, my tooth (front top left) was throbbing and sooo sensitive, my face started to swell and i knew it was an abcess as i could tell from looking it up, my dentist put me on 2 lots of antibiotics which took the pain away, my tooth is still quite sensitive but a lump has now formed on my gum, it doesnt look like a abcess, you can hardly see it but can really feel it, its right under my lip below and around my nose. what could this be? also if i had to have my tooth taken out then would my dentist put another one in as i would hate to have a front tooth missing. please help me find answers

My teeth have begun to crumble and I don’t know why, could you please advise?

March 1st, 2013
Q.

My teeth have become week since i had my children the first being 13 years ago and the last of 4 being 3 years ago, but within the last two months my teeth have began to crumble. I am not over weight and run atleast 3 times aweek, we eat at every meal fruit and veg.(mainly friut salad and salad). Although thinking about it we did have two littres of freshly squeezed oranges every day from november to january. could this have had a part in all of a sudden that my teeth have started to crumble? I am 40 but since november have started to have taccicardio and passing out on a daily basis. I was given at the end of feb almarytn 100mg per day my heart is better now and I dont pass out any more. But at the same time that I was given the new tablet it seems that my teeth problems started? brush my teeth 3 or four times aday and use mouth wash and have regular visits to the dentist. Apart from the reason I have outlined in this email I cannot think of anything else that has changed in the last couple of months? I would really like to know what I should do now? I have never had problems when I was younger my teeth were always strong and I have never really had an over sweet tooth and I hardly ever drink fizzy drinks. Thank you very much for looking at my problem and I look forward to your answer.

My teeth are a mess, help?

July 7th, 2012
Q.

Hi, my top teeth are a mess! I have a mini denture for 5 missing teeth, I have 2 gold crowns at the back, 2 crowns at the front which keep coming detached from the posts, 1 crown to the left which is working loose, 1 crown to the right which came out completely, and 1 crown at the front which broke off and I swallowed it. My bottom teeth are not much better. I have no teeth at the back, and all of my front teeth need work! HELP! If I were to look at implants to help me feel human again, what costs should I expect? Would I need to win the lottery?

I need a bone graft but im a student so money is an issue?

July 6th, 2012
Q.

Hello, I have had to two front teeth removed some time ago due to a childhood injury with reoccuring infection meaning the dentist could not save the teeth. I have had an apexectomy some years ago and a cap fitted prior to that, but the infection kept coming back. I may need a bone graft, so would like a recommendation please on a good dental practice to do this. I was made redundant 2 years ago and am now a student so money is an issue. Can you recommend someone who is not overpriced and will accept a finance option. Can I get this done on the NHS as it has affected my confidence and ability to be my normal self.
Thank you

Is there any alternative to invasive treatments I have been recommended for bone loss?

March 31st, 2012
Q.
Hello Dr Moore. I thank you for taking time to consider my enquiry. I was reffered to a periodontist by my dentist as I told that I have quit a bit of bone loss. During my consultation I was told that for being 30 years old 30% bone loss is bad also considering I have short roots, I am at loss for losing my teeth prematurely. I was told I will need to have a bone graft placed as well as some proteins that will help in regeneration. Are there any other alternatives that are not as invasive and costly but that have similar results? Thank you for your time.,

March 25th, 2012
Q.
Hello Dr Glober. My situation is that , during a fight i lost my upper jaw`S teeth and i canh tell you that i need to be sedative by my dentist BEFORE my actual injection in my gum. Sedative which – this relieves anxiety and causes temporary relaxation without putting me to sleep. i would like to know how much it would end up costing me and where your dental practice is  actually  based as i live in london. many thanks for your time and I hope you can help,
