Do dental implants help to preserve the functionality of the mouth?

Q. I have read that dental implants can help to preserve your natural teeth. I would like some info on how this is done if possible?
A. Hi, many thanks for your email, dental implants themselves do not preserve natural teeth but by helping to spread the load of biting and chewing, help to decrease the pressure on existing natural teeth. This helps to preserve natural teeth. Also, dental implants will maintain bone at the site it has been placed, so will also help to maintain bone around natural teeth to help keep the natural teeth strong. Hope all this information makes sense.
