I am considering implants as a more permanent measure when I replace my old dentures, but I don’t want a bone graft. What are the chances I will need this?

Q. I have dentures in and they\’re due to be replaced because I\’ve had them for a while now and they\’re pretty ruined. I\’m now 73 and I am considering dental implants as a more permanent measure. I am in a healthy state. However I\’m worried that I may have to go ahead with a bone graft. What are the chances of this happening at my age?,
A. It\’s very difficult to say without a full consultation. Over time bone resorbs in the body when it has no purpose (ie to hold on to the teeth) A dentist would need to take some diagnostic x-rays and possibly a CT Scan to assess bone levels and then advise if treatment would require bone augmentation procedures before placing dental implants.
