I’m considering having an implant on my right front tooth, I’ve had 2 consultation which do you think is the best option?

Q.
I am considering having an implant on my right front tooth due to the post / core RCT root starting to fail (after 25 years). I have had two consultations with two specialists and one is saying he would be prepared to do an immediate implant placement following extraction with the final restoration 3 months later, but the other is saying he does not want to do this and will extract, wait 3 months and then place the implant. Which do you think is the best option, as i have read that immediate loading / placement can cause problems such as gum recession after placement and can be challenging to create a good result in the aesthetic zone? Perhaps worth noting is that i had crown lengthening surgery about 3 years ago prior to the replacement of my front crowns. Also, as both my front teeth are crowned can i have a fixed temporary restoration during the healing phases of the implant placement? I know i should have asked them these questions but i ran out of time at the consultation and just want an unbiased view. Many thanks in advance.

Hi thanks for your question – I would always aim to do an immediate implant placement with a temporary restoration on top of the implant. If the situation isn’t right for this then delayed placement is the next option. I can’t tell you for sure unless I’ve seen you for a proper assessment though.
