Is a sinus lift really necessary?

Q. my dentist has advised me to have a sinus lift because the teeth that need replacing with dental implants are too close to the sinus area and he said it could cause me a lot of problems. I don\’t really want to have surgery, is a sinus lift really necessary? or are there any other options? thank you,
A. Thanks for your question. Dental implants require sufficient bone for secure placement and retention. In some cases where there is not enough bone, then augmentation procedures are required. Without seeing appropriate diagnotic imaging it\’s impossible to say what options are available. But if bone is limited then a Sinus Infill may be the best option. Regards George Glover BDS MSc
