Is It Common For Healing Screws To Come Loose?

Q.
H Dr. Moore, I have a question for you. My partner has just had healing screws fitted as he is having four implants placed. He is waiting to have final treatment in two weeks time when the gums heal. He was biting into a sandwich and felt that one of the healing screws had come loose. Is this common, and can it be replaced? Does it mean that the gum has rejected it? Will this delay the final treatment? He had the implants put in 9 months ago. Thanks in advance.

Hello, thank you for your question. It’s not uncommon, the healing screw probably just needs re-tightening. I’d suggest your partner should pop back to get the dentist to check it, but I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about. – Dr. Andrew Moore.
