Is there an age limit for dental implants?

Q. What age do you have to be to get a dental implant? I am only fourteen but have had to have three teeth removed, my permanent teeth. Now, dental implants seem like the best option but am I old enough to go with or is the bone not fully formed or something like that?

A. you really need to be at least 16 if you are a girl or 18 as a boy and have nearly finished your growth cycle

Is there an age limit for dental implants?

Q. I am 13 years old and have a missing tooth after a sporting accident. Now, I need to know if I would be able to get a dental implant? Is there an age limit to this treatment or would I be oay for it?

A. You need to wait until your jaws are fully formed aged 17+

Is there an age limit for dental implants?

Q. At what age is it advised that you can get an implant? There must be a cut-off age for children I guess, but my child suffered a bad injury to his face and is need of such treatment. He is ten. Hope to hear from you soon.

A. Hi, many thanks for your email. Unfortunately, until your child has fully developed, which would be around 18, a dental implant is not the right choice of treatment. Until then its just about temporising the area to keep the space maintained so when your son has fully developed the implant treatment can be started!
