My new implant looks longer than my other teeth, what can be done about this?

Q.
I have recently had a single implant retained crown fitted to my left central incisor and a cerec porcelain crown fitted to my left lateral incisor following an accident.

When my central incisor was removed an abcess was discovered which meant i had some artificial bone inserted and left to heal before the implant was placed.

Now the implant has been fitted it looks considerably longer than my right central incisor, which my dentist says is due to gum recession. I am really unhappy with how this looks and want to try and find out if there are any procedures available to correct this as i do not want one front tooth which is longer than the other?

Many thanks

A.
Hi

Unfortunately this can happen and is really dependable on the condition of the bone and soft tissues before the implant was placed. In some cases soft tissue grafting can be carried out but would have to be assessed by your implant dentist if this is possible in your individual case. This can not be done in all cases.
