One of my new implants has dropped about 4mm, how can I rectify this?

Q. I have recently had 8 dental upper implants and waiting for the crowns but one of the implants has dropped over 4mm out of the gum, my dentist says its unfortunate and i will feel the metal implant in my mouth once the crown has been put in place . WHY HAS THIS HAPPENED?,
A. I’m not sure if the implant has dropped, its more likely that the gum has shrunk back. If this is the case then you may need some gum surgery to cover it up?
