What options are theret to replace dentures with implants?

August 7th, 2010
Q.
I have dentures, which I find are a nuisance to hold in place with denture glue. Dental implants seem like a good option, but I would like to know how many implants would be required for all the teeth both top and bottom, and possibly an estimate of how much this would cost? Thanks.

Is bone grafting really a safe option when it comes to dental implants. The thought of taking bone from another part of my body makes me cringe. Is it really safe???

What sedation is available for the implant procedure?

August 7th, 2010
Q.
I am in no way a fan of the dentist, and would go as far to say that I have a phobia. It took me a long time to admit such a thing to myself but I can not deny it. However, I don’t wnat o lose my nice smile. I am okay with routine check ups, but when it gets to soemthing major I run away scared. My dentist has now told me that I need dental implants. I feel too scared to do this, but have heard about some sedation techniques. Could you offer me any advice on this, please?

How much would it cost to get an implant and crown?

August 6th, 2010
Q.
During an operation for knee replacement surgery(private hospital) a front crown was fractured by the anaesthetist. Initially the hospital agreed to repair treatment which would involve an implant as there was insufficiant bone for a new crown to be fitted. Part of the operation was carried out by the dentist attached to the hospital. In July I had a letter from the hospital saying they would not pay for my implant as the anaesthetist was an independent practitioner – and hence she was responsible. The process has stalled, so I am now in a position where I have had a titanium post in place for almost 4 months, and no idea what happens next. My question is, how much would it cost approximately to complete the process ie to put in the implant

Will grinding teeth at night affect a dental implant

August 6th, 2010
Q.
Sadly, I often grind my teeth in the night, according to my partner anyway. I am now in need of a dental implant, and would like to know whether my grinding habits would cause any trouble for an implant?

How painful and intrusive are dental implants?

August 2nd, 2010
Q.
I have been informed that I need to get an implant for one of my front teeth. It seemed like the tooth was going to be fine, but things change quickly and I am in need of an implant. Of all the dental procedures I have heard of this sounds one of the most painful. Could you please tell me how intrusive and painful it really is, to put my worries at ease?
