Will Smoking Discolour My Crown?

May 4th, 2015
Q.

I’m having a dental implant with a crown fitted in 3 weeks time, but my dentist has been a bit unclear about how long the procedure is going to take. Also, I’m a smoker so I’m wondering if the crown will get discoloured over time? Thanks in advance.

Some of my teeth are sensitive after building up teeth with fillings. Dentists says I need crowns but I can’t afford it. Advise?

December 27th, 2013
Q.

my teeth had worn down, due to no teeth at the back,& my teeth were very sensitive,& painful,my dentist said he would advise crowns, which i could not afford,he said he could build my teeth up which would make a difference to how they looked & this would cost me just under £1000. I had 15 teeth built up,which i was really happy with, but now after 3 months i am getting sensitivity in some, & little holes coming on the corners, but my dentist says “well the build up is only fillings”you need crowns, He took an exray & said one of the front teeth that is sensitive now really needs root canal treatment, this cost me £1,013 what can i do . I can not afford crowns ,which he says would cost me about £7000.please advise.I feel as if he is just trying to get more money out of me.

I am thinking about getting my top crooked teeth extracted and replaced with implants. Is there an alternative?

November 22nd, 2013
Q.

I am female in my late 50’s. My two biggish front teeth seem to slope backwards and all other front teeth seem to slope forwards so the the lateral incisors stick out badly. A few years ago an orthodontist said I would need lower (I think) jaw surgery before any braces could be fitted. I didn’t go for this. I also have ‘highly restored’ teeth as one dentist put it and have a few crowns and have had a few root treatments. Also some top teeth at the side now look dark and unattractive. My four top incisors are healthy teeth but I’m wondering about getting the top crooked teeth extracted and replaced with implants to improve my smile. Is there any alternative? It is all beginning to affect my confidence badly.

Are dental implants a viable option for me?

January 5th, 2013
Q.

I am thinking of having implants, however first I think I would need to lose my four front upper teeth because they are crowns and becoming wobbly. I do not want to have an upper denture because my dentist made me one for the back teeth and I am constantly heaving and feel as though I am choking. I have a lower denture which has taken some time to get used to and am also thinking of having at least 8 implants on my bottom jaw. I am petrifyed of the dentist and get extremely anxious to the point I have panic attacks although this is not all the time. I would like to receive further information and pricing. I am 43 years old and my teeth are not in great shape. I have only 8 teeth on the upper jaw and 6 on the lower jaw. If you do not have immediate loading will you have to go without teeth during the healing process and how much would i all cost and can you pay in installments or is that unacheivable because I currently am a mature student.

Is it nessessary to have a full set implant in the upper jaw or can I get just the front few done?

November 27th, 2012
Q.

I have only two natural teeth left in upper jaw. I used to have 4 crowns in the front but after many years the root couldn’t hold the teeth anymore. I’ve had them removed. I’d like implants. I’m 56 years old. Can I get just about 8 teeth for comestic purposes in the front. Or must I have the whole top of mouth done. I have lived without back teeth for a long time. I got my crowns done because of broken front teeth in my twenties. I do not have any gum desease.
On the lower jaw I have 9 teeth left. I’m more concerned with the upper ones. I have a small front artificial upper plate, as I cannot bear the full one. Is it nessessary to have a full set implant in the upper jaw or can I get just the front few done. Than you.

Which is my best option for treating an infected tooth?

November 9th, 2012
Q.

My requirements: a) Root canal therapy two canals-cast post and core – crown preparation and impression -porcelain bonded Br non-precious or b) a complex extraction or c) and implant.
The particular tooth in question is the end one of a row of crowns, it is painful and being treated at the moment with antibiotic. I have to decide soon as to which option I choose.
My age – 70
Have very recently had an MRI plus a CT scan and wish to have neither of these as part of my future treatments.
I hope you will be able to give me some helpful decision making advice.
I live in Berkshire

What are my options to replace/cover/whiten darkened cap?

February 4th, 2012
Q.
I got my front right hand tooth snapped horizontally in half (more like 2/3 off) in an accident when I was 9. Originally it was capped (Like a bit stuck on the bottom) which came off twice over time, so when I was 15 was like layered up to stop the block coming off which has been fine but I can’t bite on it (so I was told at the time), I’m now 25 and the colour (Which never matched) really bothers me as it makes my tooth look dirty (very brownish yellow) I currently don’t work, I was curious as to what my options are as to replacing/covering/whitening it?,

Is it normal for the area where I got implants to still be bleeding and painful?

November 6th, 2011
Q.
I had implants placed with crowns to replace my older crowns which were on there now. But I am concerned because I am in quite a ot of pain and there is bleeding from the lcoation where the implants were placed. This doesn’t seem right, I would value your opinion.,
