Can I Get A Dental Implant At The Age Of 17?

February 23rd, 2015
Q.

I wore braces for almost 3 years. I was told that one of my teeth will never form into an adult tooth meaning that I will have a gap. My dentist has partly filled the gap by essentially making the tooth next to the gap bigger because at the time they said I was too young for an implant. I am now 17 and would really like to know whether or not I would be able to get an implant in your opinion as the gap really affects my confidence, so I would love to get it sorted.

I’m 48. Am I Able To Have Dentures Fitted At This Age?

February 1st, 2015
Q.

Hi Dr. Fahey. I have gum disease and my current dentist said I can’t have dentures or plates fitted where my missing teeth are. This is a problem as I’m very self-conscious when smiling. My dentist said I’m unable to have existing front teeth taken out to have dentures as I’m only 48. I’m worried that I’ll never be able to smile properly. Will I ever be able to have dentures? I’d be grateful if you could advise me.

After shattering her teeth my daughter was given a plate but dislikes it. Can she not have anything else until her teeth stop developing?

September 19th, 2011
Q.
My 12 year daughter shattered her front tooth in a bike accident in july. The nerve was removed and a small piece of the tooth remains. She has been given a plate by the dental hospital but it is very uncomfortable for her not to mention really obvious. They have advised that she cant have anything permanent untill she stops growing. Is there really nothing that can be done? She is becoming a teenager and I worry it will affect her confidence. I am willing to pay for private treatment. Please advise, Many thanks.,
