Can nervous patients have dental implants?

October 11th, 2010
Q.
I understand that dental implants require the use of drills and needles and all that horrible stuff. Do you think that in the near future some of the new laser or pain free technology that is coming into dentistry may make this procedure less scary?

Are implants drilled into bone?

October 7th, 2010
Q.
Are dental implants screwed into the gum and bone or are they only cemented in with that special dental cement. The thought of drilling and all that stuff makes me queasy!

Is bone grafting procedure completely safe?

October 2nd, 2010
Q.
I wanted implant but my dentist has now told me that I am going to need the bone grafting treatment before I can go ahead. I am not all that sure about this treatment. How much will it add to the cost of my already extortionate implants? Also, entirely safe procedure as it sounds ominous to me!

What to do if crack in implant crown?

September 26th, 2010
Q.
I was palying football on saturday when I took a boot to the face. I later realised that there is a crack in the dental implant crown at the top right side of my mouth. It is quite noticeable and I am worried it will only get worse until the crown just falls out. Will I need to get another one or is there any way that this one can be salvaged?

How long will pain alst after dental implant?

September 26th, 2010
Q.
How long is the pain expected to last after the dental implant is put in? Will I be given medication to alleviate the pain and if so how long for? How long does it take for the implant site to heal properly? A fair few questions but thanks.

Wrong to be so scared of dental implant procedure?

September 24th, 2010
Q.
I will be getting one of my teeth pulled and then getting a dental implant but am well and truly concerned about the pain this will involve and the recovery process. How long is it before you can actually start to eat proper food after the implant? Is soft food recommended for a week or so after the procedure?

Do symptoms point to infection of dental implant?

September 19th, 2010
Q.
Two weeks ago I finally had my dental implant put in. I stuck to all the dentist’s instructions what with salt water to rinse mouth and medication, but still managed to get red sweling around the area. From what I have read up on it would seem that the implant has failed and I have made an appointment within the next few days. Does this kind of thing happen often? Is it likely to happen again if I get the implant done again? How long will it take for the gum to recover from this?

Denture feels uncomfortable after getting implants?

September 16th, 2010
Q.
10 days ago I had two implants placed in my lower jaw at the front. I am a little concerned about my denture which has never been a good fit. At present I am not wearing it but when I do my top teeth will be pressing down quite hard on the denture on to the lower gum. Will this do any harm when I’m eating or do you think I should leave it out.
