Is the Success Rate of an Implant Related to the State of the Surrounding Teeth?

Hey. I’m just wondering, is the success rate of a dental implant in any way related to the teeth surrounding it? I have a missing tooth, and the two teeth beside is are not in the best condition, though I don’t want to get rid of them. Will keeping them in place affect how successful the dental implant would be? Thanks.

How Can I Maximise My Implant Success Rate?

Hello Dr Bohara I am considering getting a dental implant soon and am doing a little investigation into treatment success rates first. I’m looking for some expert advice on what can go wrong if the implant fails to take and what can I do to maximise my chances of it succeeding? Dentist said they wouldn’t do implant because I smoke. Is giving up smoking the only option?

My front tooth is beyond disrepair or so my dentist has told me. It is very loose though and I think it is only a matter of time. I asked the dentist about the possibility of implants but he said no because I smoke. I asked whether another dentist would do it if I went to them but he was adamant that they wouldn\’t. Is the only reasonable option for me to do my best to give up smoking if I want to have this treatment?,

What will happen to my implant in the future?

Dear Dr Moore, I would like to get an implant done in my upper front jaw (either SLActive or Roxolid). However, I was wondering about what will happen in the future. Say, in 30 years when I may need a full upper overdenture. Can the already existing implant be incorporated in such a system? So that one less implant will need to be inserted? Or would the already existing implant have to be removed and a whole set of new ones be inserted? Thank you for your time!,
