How many implants will I need to replace a bridge?

April 16th, 2012
Q.
Hello Doctor
I have a bridge consisting of 4 teeth at the top front of my mouth. Due to root canal work that has not worked I had to have an operation at the maxio-facial clinic 4 years ago. However this has not worked either and the bridge is starting to fail. My options are to have the operation again but my surgeon says this is only 50% sucessful and can accelerate the process. Or to have the teeth replaced by impants. As Only one tooth is missing, how many implants would I have to have, could the other 3 teeth be replaced with crowns? and would the site of the original tooth loss be suitable for an implant as it was areound 40 yers ago.
Thank you very much for your time,

What can I do about my loose bridge?

April 16th, 2012
Q.
Hello, Doctor. I wonder if you could answer a question for me?
I had eight mini implants to support a top bridge with twelve teeth fitted over four years ago. I have broken two crowns and asked a dentist if its possible to remove my (loose)bridge and replace the crowns,he says its not possible. Is this true ?

Can I replace 2 adult teeth and one baby tooth with dental implants?

April 6th, 2012
Q.
Hello Doctor Andrew Moore and I thank you for your time. I have overcrowding at the front of my mouth. There is two teeth in front of one another (incisor) along with a baby tooth next to them (I am currently twenty five). Is it possibly to remove these three (2 adult and 1 baby) teeth and then replace them with two dental implants (preferably one implant with 2 teeth attached). What would an approximate cost be for this type of treatment if you can please let me know. Many thanks and I hope you can advise on this cheers,.,

How do I actually find a dentist who is experienced with dental implants?

April 6th, 2012
Q.
Hello Dr Bohara, This ia a question that follows on from one I asked earlier on about “bad experience with a bone graft….” You replied that it is important to select a surgeon who is experienced enough with the procedure to place dental implants. I live near Chelmsford in Essex and would like to go to the most experienced in this area, but how can I find out this information? Thank you for your time and I hope you can provide some assistance.,

Have you heard of any people having an allergic reaction to dental implants?

April 1st, 2012
Q.
Hi could you tell me if you’ve ever heard of allergic reactions with the dental implants? I tend to have a unnatural tendency towards allergies but at the same time i really need a new set of teeth if my worries persisted about implants what else would you recommend? My teeth are pretty crooked and in general ok shape thanks very much,

I am suffering from TMJ as a result of braces treatment gone wrong. Can you advise?

April 1st, 2012
Q.
I am currently wearing braces and have 4 missing teeth due to extractions. My bottom teeth were straight but in my opinion after treatment with braces they are now more worser. i have been told that i will have implants on the NHS, but my treatment has been ongoing for years and now i have been told that i will have another minimum of 2 yr before completion. I also have developed TMJ symptoms, due to the reposition of my bite, but although the dentist and consultants aknowledge this they do not refer me to a maxillofacial surgeon, which is only 1 floor below them in the hospital. I do not understand why this is? There are now moments where i am being told that i will recieve an appojnment by letter but none arrive, for months until i enquire over the phone. i feel that i am being neglected and on top of all that more damage is done to my teeth than is good. I am going to complain to the PCT and the chief executive of the hospital. i would however like advice on what i should do to help my TMJ. and if i can be referred to another dentist which can carry out my work under NHS funding?,

Would I able to replace what I consider dead teeth for dental implants?

April 1st, 2012
Q.
Hi, i have a couple of teeth on the top row of teeth that are technically dead as they are grey and don’t feel very secure. I haven’t been to the dentist in many years so i fear that the damaged teeth may have affected the gums and possibly the jaw. I would really like to get implants to replace the dead teeth but if what i fear is true would this be an option for me as the gum and jaw might not be able to provide a stable base. many thanks for your time,

How would dental implants handle speaking and singing?

April 1st, 2012
Q.
Hello Dr Moore. Can you please offer advice on my situation. I sing with two different choirs and, on the occasion, sing solo and so my teeth are important to me. Sadly, due to extensive use of antibiotics, I had to lose many of my teeth. The part upper denture is badly fitting and also interferes with speech, particularly ends of words important in singing. I couldn’t be without teeth and so how would I cope if I went for implants? Thank you for your time and I hope you can advise.,

Can you please offer your advice to ease my dental implant treatment concerns?

April 1st, 2012
Q.
after a bad experience with a bone graft and being numb for over a month, I’m now having second thoughts about getting a implant. My appt is in two weeks, so I need advice asap. With 5 children, I am not sure if it’s worth the risk I’ve been reading about. I was in pain from a failed root canal for many years, and I don’t wanna go back to that. seems too many things can go wrong, infection etc….I’m still young and pretty, and I’ve lost my main chewing lower right molar. what else can I do. I’ve been worried sick and loosing sleep. please help me to decide. not sure if it makes a difference but my brother has 2 implants that are fine, and my sisters bottom molars are fine that she has had for over 15 yrs. but she has had a nightmare with her upper implants. didn’t know if family accepts implants the same way? thank you,
