Can I Get A Dental Implant At The Age Of 17?

February 23rd, 2015
Q.

I wore braces for almost 3 years. I was told that one of my teeth will never form into an adult tooth meaning that I will have a gap. My dentist has partly filled the gap by essentially making the tooth next to the gap bigger because at the time they said I was too young for an implant. I am now 17 and would really like to know whether or not I would be able to get an implant in your opinion as the gap really affects my confidence, so I would love to get it sorted.

The Gaps On My Bottom Set Seem To Be Getting Wider, What Can I Do To Close Them?

January 10th, 2015
Q.

Hello Andrew. I have gaps between my front, bottom teeth. They are widening or just getting smaller from erosion. Can you tell me what treatments are there best suited for covering the gap for this case? It’s an urgent case, as I am not aware of any site discussing issues regarding the bottom set of teeth, usually just the upper teeth is more discussed in regards to gaps. I would like to know the solution to it and possibly the potential cost of treatment? Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing your reply.

Should I use braces or implants to close a gap in my smile?

January 23rd, 2013
Q.

I would like to have implants on my bottom row where I have four teeth missing ( two on the left and two on the right side of my mouth, the spaces are in the same location). I am also considering having braces to close the gaps between my lower teeth (on the bottom row). Can these treatments be undertaken one after the after and if so in what order? Can these treatments be done at the same time during the period that the implants are healing? Can braces be attached to teeth that have had implants, or should this be avoided? What would your recommendation be? Also as a result of the missing teeth, the tooth in the upper level has grown longer as if it is trying to fill the lower space. How will this be corrected when replacement teeth have been implanted; is this undertaken during the implant procedure?

Is my dentist right closing my missing tooth gaps with braces, rather than implants?

September 8th, 2012
Q.

Hello there, I would like a second opinion on my orthodontic treatment and dental implants! When I was 10 years old I extracted my first molar/left lower jaw as it was so decayed, the empty socket, overtime shrinked and caused my face to be uneven! When I was 17 years old, I had to remove the rest of the First molars (upper left/upper right/lower right) because of decay! Today I am 22 years old and I can notice that I am starting to age prematurely as the gaps from the molar extractions are starting to shrink, causing my face to get smaller, hollow eyes, “melting face ” kind of effect so I was thinking to have bone graft (as I lost serious bone) and then dental implants. But there is one small problem! I started my orthodontic treatment 1 year ago, for a severe malocclusion from where I will have to have jaw surgery to complete the treatment. At the start of the treatment I mentioned to my orthodontist I would like to keep the (molar extraction) gaps open so I can have dental implants but at my appoiment yesterday she said she wants to close the gaps and that’s what we’ve been doing all along during the treatment. I don’t feel is a good idea as my teeth and jaw are very small anyway and I’m scared this will make it even worse../Plus looking in the mirror and seeing my face changing I don’t like what I see/aging prematurely. Now, my questions are: Is it a good idea for my orthodontist to close the gaps? If it’s not, with orthodontic treatment is she able to stretch the gaps back to original shape so I can have the dental implants? If yes, will I be able to have the dental implants during the orthodontic treatment or after/during the jaw surgery? I feel very upset/disstresed/depressed….i stopped going out/have avoided most of my friends, when meeting someone new they guess my age at 29/31 as I look so old….. I need a second opnion/answer please! Thank you very much!
