Why am I Still Having Problems 6 Weeks After Treatment?

June 8th, 2015
Q.

Hi Dr Glover. I recently had an implant retained denture, and was aware that they take quite a long time to get used to. It’s been 6 weeks and I’m still struggling. I gag when I eat and my gums keep bleeding, and my mouth feels sore. I have made an appointment with my dentist for two weeks time but I’d just like a bit of advice before I go. Why do you think I’m still having problems?

I Have Gum Disease And I’m Worried My Teeth May Fall Out, Can You Provide Me With Any Help Or Advice?

July 19th, 2014
Q.

Hello, Dr Bohara. I have gum disease, which I have had treatment for over the last couple of years. After a filling some weeks ago, I had quite bad toothache, and the tooth is now about to fall out. I am devastated, as I do not want a plate fitted. I am also scared that the other teeth will fall out as well as this. I thought I was on top of the disease?
If I pay for just one tooth now, I may have to keep getting dentures which will be costing more and more, my dentist has not been very helpful in this matter either. I can’t have a bridge as I do not have many back teeth. I really hope you can help me with this enquiry, any information or advice will be greatly received. Thank You.

My Maryland bridge has fallen out 3 times in the last 3 years, what are my other options?

August 1st, 2013
Q.

I have a bridge (I believe it’s called a Maryland bridge) due to losing a tooth, mainly through grinding my teeth in my sleep. I initially had a crown but ended up needing the whole tooth removed and a bridge was my only option. I’ve had it approximately 3 years and it has fallen out and been re-attached 3 times so far. At the moment it’s causing me a lot of pain and I can feel it loosening, ready to fall out again. I assume this is due to grinding my teeth, although on one occasion it did come out when I was eating. I’m concerned that this is just going to keep happening and I’m wondering what my options are. I’m also not really happy with the appearance of the bridge, the tooth doesn’t blend in well enough with the others and you can see that it’s false. I’ve been reading about implants however it seems these can also be damaged by teeth grinding? I understand you may well need to see the tooth, but I’m just wondering what your initial thoughts on this would be and what advice you can offer. Many thanks.

I am experiencing some pressure from an Implant I had fitted 7 years ago, should I be worried?

November 30th, 2012
Q.

Hi, about 7 years ago I had a bone graft followed by an upper lateral incisor implant done. I periodically experience pain above the actual implant. The type of pain is like an ache and increases when I press on the upper gums. The pain also radiates behind my nose. Could this type of pain just be sinus pressure, or could it be directly related to the implant procedure? The implant seems quite solid and strong, however bone loss is always a concern for me since the bone graft procedure. However, I’m only 25 years old. The gums look quite healthy from what I can tell. Any help or advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I had a tooth extraction and I am still in pain 8 weeks later, what do you suggest?

February 27th, 2012
Q.
Hello Dr Moore, unfortunately your answer did not appear on your blog so I shall ask again with a little bit more added. I still get an ache where the extraction site is 8 weeks after extraction, is this normal and should I have a bridge whilst this is going on? This is the added bit – I have seen the dentist once again and took 2 x-rays, nothing showed up as to why I am still in pain and has referred me to my local hospital. What do you think it is?,

Is it normal for the area where I got implants to still be bleeding and painful?

November 6th, 2011
Q.
I had implants placed with crowns to replace my older crowns which were on there now. But I am concerned because I am in quite a ot of pain and there is bleeding from the lcoation where the implants were placed. This doesn’t seem right, I would value your opinion.,

Can Fibrmyalgia cause discomfort when wearing a denture?

November 6th, 2011
Q.
My sister has been undergoing dental treatment and has had a denture (NHS) which has never fitted correctly, she has recently had more teeth added to it, but is tols she cannot have “clips” either side on the NHS, is this correct? the dentist has however put a clip on one side. She is in great discomfort, and has been for a long while, do you think that the fact she has fibromyalgia could affect the pain caused by the denture? your opinion would be much appreciated, Thanks,
