How Can I Get A Lovely Smile Without Having False Teeth?

March 21st, 2015
Q.

Hi there, I am a 51 year old lady who suffered Crohns disease and was on long term steroids. I have been off them for 6 years now. My teeth and gums suffered and I have slight gum disease.
I have 1 crown in the front which is not in straight, and the tooth next to it is bridged onto a smaller tooth and is a different colour. I also have gaps. I would like a lovely smile again without having false teeth, any suggestions?

Will my steroid treatment for angioedema affect my chances of having dental implants?

April 19th, 2013
Q.

I may be needing an implant on an upper premolar tooth if my second root canal is unsuccessful. The tooth is not abscessed and my dentist said all my bone area is intact. Implants would be my first choice to replace the tooth. However, I am finding some information confusing on the internet about steroids. I had a 5 day course of steroids about a year ago and abother couple of days worth 7 months ago. This was for angioedema which was because my body was producing a lot of histamine when I had a virus & made my eyes swell. I now take daily antihistamines and never have a problem. The only time I’ve had the angioedema was when my GP suggested I try stopping the antihistamines as angioedema is not permanent. It goes away on its own after a couple of years. In 2 and a half years, I’ve had 3 attacks lasting about 4 days each and that’s the only occasions I’ve had steroids. Will this get in the way of me being a candidate for an implant? Many thanks,
