What does it mean when a dental implant is rejected?

Q. I have read about implants being ‘rejected’. What is this exactly? I will be getting an implant in a couple of weeks and am just looking into any complications that may come up?
A. I guess what you are meaning is that the implant fails to intergrate with the bone and therfore a new one would have to be placed. There are number of reasons why this may occur i.e infection, poor bone qualiity, not following the proper protocols, overloading, systemic health of the patient, etc
