Will Smoking Discolour My Crown?

Q.
I’m having a dental implant with a crown fitted in 3 weeks time, but my dentist has been a bit unclear about how long the procedure is going to take. Also, I’m a smoker so I’m wondering if the crown will get discoloured over time? Thanks in advance.
A.
Thank you for contacting me. The procedure can take between 6 weeks to 6 months, depending on the extent of work being done. As for discolouration, intrinsically it will stay the same colour over time but factors such as smoking and drinking red wine are likely to surface. Hope this is helpful.
